The 40-member concert band performs more than a dozen times a year, including four formal concerts at the newly-renovated, historic State Theatre in Auburn (Auburn Placer Performing Arts Center). The band, and small ensembles made up of band members, participates in many community events such as: Auburn's Fourth of July Celebration, Auburn Cruise Nite, Auburn Air Fair, Gold Country Fair, Auburn's Old Town Country Christmas, Veteran's Day, Carmichael Park Band Festival, and more. Auburn Winds also performs at local schools, museums and senior-living facilities.
Auburn Mayor Matthew Spokely proclaimed Auburn Winds to be the official town band of Auburn at the December 19, 2016 city council meeting. The beginning of the proclamation reads, “The City of Auburn recognizes the commitment of the Auburn Winds to the Auburn Community, demonstrated through its music for civic events, free public concerts, support of local businesses and organizations, educational experiences for Auburn area youth, and entertainment for our seniors.”
